Dassault completes development of F3-R standard for Rafale The development, which started in 2014, is in the process of being validated by the French Armed Forces and is expected to be completed by September. The modernization of the Rafale B/C/M currently being operated in the F3-4+ standard will begin once the validation trials are completed and is expected to continue through 2019, when the standard will be operationalized. The Rafale EM/DM of the Egyptian Air Force and Qatari Air Force EQ/DQ currently being delivered will also have to be brought to this new standard. The F3-R standard includes the integration of Meteor long-range BVRAAM, TALIOS Multi-Function Targeting Pod, GBU-16 Paveway II LGBs, updated SPECTRA EW suite, Automatic Ground Collision Avoidance System (AGCAS), SAASM (Selective availability anti-spoofing module) to stop enemies from jamming GPS data, New Generation Refueling Cradle (NARANG) for buddy-refueling, new IFF mode 5/S, improved encrypted communication and L16 Link.
